Song: "God is Not a White Man"

My online friend Eruesso (http://agod-sizedpuzzle.blogspot.com) recently posted this fantastic song from the Christian band Gungor - responsible for (in my opinion) very typical, mediocre contemporary Christian music in the past (like "I Am a Friend of God" - a KLOVE radio staple).  Apparently, they've decided to go in a new direction.  A progressive direction?  Maybe.

They still use masculine pronouns to describe God, even as they deconstruct the concept of God as an "old white man."  They proclaim, "God loves communists and atheists and lesbians" and God certainly does.  But it'll take more than a "God loves everyone" shoutout to convince me a Christian actually believes it to the point of PRACTICING IT.  Egalitarian theology.  Egalitarian worship.  Egalitarian sacrament.

Even so, this isn't the sort of music that finds its way onto Christian radio.  For that reason alone: props.

My favorite part is when the dead hamster turns into a giant flying hamster that people can ride.

I liked the whale that saved the overturned boat.

And the list of people God loves (even Pat Robertson!)

God also loves Robocop!

I love Gungor! Lisa Gungor has a great song called "Jesus and John" that you should really check out.

Is that Robocop? I thought it was Cyclops ... God loves mutants.

I think Nightcrawler would have been the one to proclaim that, but maybe that would be lost on people ...

WKen, you just sounded the nerd alert on yourself about Nightcrawler from Marvel Comi--oh no. I just outed myself.
