"Enraged Weiner" - wish I'd said that...

I realized some time ago that it's the worst parts of my narcissism that have - on occasion - been attracted to the thought of entering politics.  If I did, it would be to give speeches and diatribes like THIS ONE!!!

My God, I'm ready to donate money or picket something or get born again, again!  It might be an act.  It might be political posturing.  But I'm always inspired by a little passion - a little righteous indignation.  Not sure it's the best parts of me that are inspired, but I'm inspired, nonetheless...

Hi Peter,
Still enjoying your blog. I've started to respond a bunch of times but get bogged down in ambiguity and (some word that means paralysis as a result of seeing things from many perspectives simultaneously), part of being a Libra I suppose. Politics however is easy -
I would be inspired as well if I weren't so cynical about politics. Smells like political theater to me. Look at the reaction or rather lack of reaction from the people behind him. Here's a great article from the CS Monitor on this incident.

Ugh, the article is sooo depressing, Brendan. Thanks for the link. I agree it smelled like theatre, but I feel so passionately - so angry - about the legislative gridlock in Washington... I guess I'm ready to respond when someone on the "inside" articulates my feelings. Unfortunately, it's clear that most anyone on the inside is part of the problem, so the anger is inevitably hypocritical. But I'm a hypocrite too, so I guess I can relate ;)

Thanks for reading, bro. I was just thinking about you recently, since it's been so long since we chatted. Hope all is well,
Peter

Ok...the title of this post piqued my curiosity. I've watched this bill, the problem is is that the methodology employed circumvents discussion between parties, and bypasses possible amendment of the bill. It's pretty clear that the GOP wouldn't mind supporting the intention (healthcare for 9/11 workers) but as they do represent more than a few Americans feel that they should be included in the discussion and amendment.
